Tales investigaciones solo se pueden realizar durante los eclipses totales, ya que de otra forma el brillo del Sol y de la atm\u00f3sfera terrestre no nos permiten observar la atm\u00f3sfera solar. Actualmente, durante los eclipses se pueden probar prototipos de instrumentos que, de ser exitosos, llegan a formar parte de futuras misiones espaciales.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>En este contexto, el Instituto de Geof\u00edsica, a trav\u00e9s del Departamento de Ciencias Espaciales, aprovechar\u00e1 el hist\u00f3rico momento para determinar con precisi\u00f3n el efecto de la radiaci\u00f3n solar de alta energ\u00eda en la parte superior de la atm\u00f3sfera de la Tierra que llamamos ionosfera. En particular, entre los casi 70 y 90 kil\u00f3metros de altura, donde se encuentra la llamada capa D de la ionosfera, donde los gases que la componen son ionizados por la radiaci\u00f3n solar de alta energ\u00eda.
